Margaret Mary Della Torre On the morning of June 6, 2014 Margaret passed away in Vero Beach, Florida. Margaret was 79 years old. Margaret Della Torre nee Mitchell was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on July 25, 1934. She was the third child of the late Margaret and Alphonsus Mitchell. She graduated from Teaneck High School in 1951 after which she attended the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts and modeled briefly. She married the late Richard Della Torre on May 20, 1959. After raising 7 children Margaret returned to school and received her master’s degree in English literature from Maryland University. Margaret loved entertaining and welcomed everyone into her home. The smallest event was cause to celebrate and everyone wanted to be there. She was a talented musician and vocalist and passed her enthusiasm for music and entertaining to her children. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and crafts. She was an excellent cook and spent many hours in the kitchen baking and cooking for her family and friends. She loved literature, art and music, and was proud of her Irish heritage. She also loved languages and could speak several languages, including French, Spanish, Italian and some Gaelic. She enjoyed traveling, and traveled throughout the US and to Italy and Ireland, with her late husband. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her parents Margaret and Alphonso. Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Mark Doyle of Vero Beach, Fla.; her daughter, Anne Brennen of Gaithersburg, Md.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Della Torre and Windy Sky, of Frederick, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Rita Gasparini- Casey and Ryan Casey, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and John Soghomonian of Bishopville, Md.; son, Joseph Della Torre of Rehoboth Beach, De.; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Scott Dakin of Jessup, Md.; her grandchildren, Letita Hays, Keith Menefee, Leah Barahona, Steven Gasparini, Anna Gasparini, Taylor Schlette, Michael Schlette, Lisa Soghomonian and Johnny Soghomonian; her great-grandchildren, Brenda Barahona, Hayley Barahona, and Adilio Barahona. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Alphonsus and Betty Ann Mitchell of Wallingford, CT.,her sister Marianne Fischer of Southport, NC.; her sister-in-law Margaret Singer of Mahwah, N.J. ;her sister-in-law Lynn Luppino of Lodi, N.J.; her cousin Patricia Roderick of Southport, N.C.; her cousin Austine McCarthy of Vero Beach, Fla. and her cousin Edward Annette of Savannah, GA. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10 A.M., at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2085 Tallahassee Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960, 772-567-5129. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 N. US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946, 772-461-8912. Flowers may be sent to St. Helen Catholic Church.
